TECHNICAL GLOSSARY

Essential Terms in Cannabis Analytics

Understanding the technical vocabulary that drives precision in cannabis testing and botanical analytics.

Total THC

The sum of Δ9-THC and 87.7% of THCA, used for product labeling and regulatory thresholds.

Water Activity (aw)

A measure of free moisture content; predicts microbial growth potential.

Cannabinoid Profiling

Quantitative analysis of cannabinoids via HPLC or GC.

Terpenes

Volatile aroma compounds with potential therapeutic effects.

LOD / LOQ

Limits of Detection and Quantification: the smallest detectable/measurable analyte levels.

qPCR

Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction, used for identifying microbes and viruses at the genetic level.

HPLC / GC

High-Performance Liquid Chromatography / Gas Chromatography used for separation and analysis of compounds.

ICP-MS

Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry, used to measure trace heavy metals like Pb, Hg, As, Cd.

REGULATORY UPDATES

Global Regulatory & Standardization Updates

Greenvanta actively tracks global regulatory and standardization updates relevant to cannabis testing and botanical analytics.

Current
